What Makes a Scrumptious Cookie?

I am a firm believer that cookies should be chewy and gooey. My husband on the other hand likes a crunch with his cookies. What we normally do it bake some for about 8-10 minutes for me and some for about 15 minutes for him! The kids could care less and will eat from both ways of being baked!

I also believe the amount of chocolate chips you use can make or break your cookie! That is why this recipe calls for 2 cups and not just 1.

The last thing I believe that makes the best cookie is the amount of vanilla you use. Vanilla is so important and can pack a punch with baking. The role that vanilla in baked good is to enhance all the flavors in the recipe. Just like salt does for a savory dish.

What Type of Flour?

You can use any type of flour you have on hand. I use organic unbleached all purpose flour, I use it because it is a healthier option for baking. Since it is organic it is significantly that “regular” or “bleached” flour. Organic unbleached flour is aged naturally and it has no artificial additives.

What Type of Chocolate Chips?

Just like with the flour you can use whatever kind of chocolate chips you have on hand. I like to use dark chocolate for health benefits.

Dark Chocolate Heath Benefits

  1. Power source of antioxidants which out bodies need to stay healthy.
  2. Improves blood flow.
  3. May reduce heart disease risk.
  4. Could improve brain function.

Quality Salt

I recommend Redmans Real salt. You can buy salt in bulk if you cook and bake a lot like me. They have the option of fine or course salt. Their salt is mined from an ancient seabed in Utah where it is safe from pollution.

How to Store

your can store you cookies in a airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze them up to 2 months.

Freezing Chocolate Chip Cookies

You can pre-make the dough and place it in the freezer for a rainy day! Place you cookie dough balls on a sheet of parchment paper and place in freezer for about 30 minute to an hour. Once they are frozen transfer cookie dough balls to a airtight container or a plastic bag and freeze up to 2 months.
